Quad

“You look…” Wawa angkat wajah dari bekas polisterina ke wajah yang bertanya. Josiah meletakkan bekas plastik berhadapan dengan Wawa. “…different.”

“I take that as a compliment.” Wawa senyum segaris.

“Are you having some kind of celebration or something?” suasana di Quad semakin kecoh di kala tengahari ini.

“Nahh, I was just thinking of having some changes.”

“For worst or better?”

“It depends on the eye of the beholder.” Wawa jungkit bahu.

“I’d say, you look way better.”

Wawa senyum. See..dia orang sangat supportive.

Josiah menyelamkan garpu ke dalam mangkuk mee. Mee yang terlekat disuakan ke mulut.

“Why is it necessary for you guys to wear hijab anyway?” Josiah ikhlas bertanya. “No offense by the way.”

Wawa garu kepala dalam hati. “Well, I may not be the best one to say this, as I didn’t wear a hijab before.” Aduhhh… kalaulah Nadhiya ada... “I’ve come to realize the concept of hijab, it is actually one of the most fundamental aspects of women empowerment.”

Wawa masih memandang Josiah. Josiah masih juga menunggu penjelasan lanjutan.

“When I cover myself, I make it virtually impossible for people to judge me according to the way I look. I cannot be categorized because of my attractiveness or lack thereof.” Err..boleh terima ke mamat ni?

“For instance, people fancy those women with so-called perfect body, while those who are slightly unlucky are often expelled from the community. But I believe Islam has a better way to look at people. People can judge me from the way I want myself to be, from what I have to say, rather than how I look.” Tak ke sikit tak adil kalau dinilai dengan personaliti fisik?

Josiah angguk tanpa riak. Garpu lagi sekali disuap ke mulut. Mulutnya mengunyah lambat.

“Do you shower in that?”
